There are a lot of words in English which have double consonants and it can be difficult to know when to double and when not to double. Sometimes there is a logical reason but other times it's best just to learn the word. There are a few that even native speakers have difficulty with! The answers are at the end of the post. When I was teaching in a language school, writing was usually my students' least favourite part of learning English. Here I will explain why it's a useful skill to practise and I will give you some tips which I hope will make it a more positive experience! As with all the skills, remember that the more you do it, the easier it will become.
