Here are some things I hear from clients ALL THE TIME:
“I feel nervous or scared in a conversation. I’m worried about making mistakes or sounding like a child. I’m anxious about what other people will think of me if I try to speak English so sometimes it’s easier not to say anything at all.”
“Sometimes I feel awkward because I don’t know what to say. I even avoid situations where I might have to talk to somebody! I don’t like going into the kitchen to make a cup of coffee in case I have to make conversation!”
“I want to be able to talk about a wider range of topics but my vocabulary and grammar are limited. I can’t say exactly what I want to say and this is frustrating.”
“I feel left out of conversations because it’s difficult to understand what people are saying. I feel too shy about my English to join in.”
“I learnt English at school but it was a while ago and I’ve forgotten a lot of it now. I’ve lost my confidence. My younger colleagues know more English than I do and I’m feeling left behind.”
“I want to be taken seriously at work and not feel overlooked. It’s difficult enough being a woman and getting my male colleagues to take me seriously but my lack of confidence in English makes things feel even harder.”
“I’ve been learning English for a while but I don’t feel that I’m making progress. If I could get to a higher level of English, I would enjoy going to work so much more. I might even apply for a better job!"

So what does the “She Speaks English” programme look like?
💙 For three months, we’ll meet online for one-to-one sessions which are highly tailored to you and your needs.
💙 There will also be some mini challenges which you can easily complete in your own time between sessions.
💙 You will be invited to join a small and supportive community on Slack for women like you who are working on improving their English. This will enable us to support each other in a safe space.
💙 Finally, as a member of the group, you will also be invited to informal group chats on Zoom once a month so you can get to know like-minded people and practise your conversation skills.

What my clients say
"My new job required from me a lot of interactions with English speaking colleagues (running, attending meetings), so I wanted to improve my English in terms of speaking.
At first, I used English which I learnt at school and during job. Conversations with Katie gave me more knowledge about practical language, more confidence in speaking. At my work I stopped worrying that I will not understand others or I will not be able to answer correctly. Now I don’t think about the language I use, I just speak and I'm focused on the topic.
I strongly recommend working with Katie. She is a very kind person, very patient and respectful teacher, giving advice when required. She is always well prepared for lessons and fully engaged.
We discussed different topics, opinions and she always showed respect to anything I said, even to the stupiest mistakes I made. She let me talk and after that she showed my mistakes and we discussed them.
Happy to meet Katie in my life, she is a great teacher and great person."
Anna, Poland
“I decided to have English lessons for self improvement. I hope my ability to communicate in English can get better for future needs.
I was previously taught by Katie in a language school in Cambridge. Her careful and rigorous teaching style had helped me make much progress at that time.
In my own country, I felt very embarrassed to speak English and always find it quite awkward. However, after studying English with Katie for a while, I have gained a lot of confidence. Once, when I went to an Indian restaurant, I even chatted with the staff there for a long time.
Once, I mentioned to Katie that I wanted to learn the English needed in my field of work. Although Katie and I are not in the same industry, she provided many practical phrases that helped me a lot.
Katie is a teacher who is very willing to listen and help brainstorm solutions. If there’s anything uncertain, don’t be afraid to bring it up; she’s always willing to discuss and make adjustments in the lessons.”

FAQs
I’m very busy. Will I have time to complete your programme?
I’ve designed the programme to help you to fit it into your busy life as easily as possible. We’ll meet just once a week for a one-hour lesson. The other aspects of the programme can be done in just a few minutes at any time that suits you.
What kind of progress can I expect to see in three months?
After three months, most of my clients feel a lot more confident in their ability to communicate in English and use English in their job. Depending on your specific needs, we’ll be able to improve your grammar, vocabulary or pronunciation and you’ll be equipped with strategies to continue working on these areas on your own.
What if I want more than three months?
I’m sure you will notice progress and improvement after three months but of course, there’s always more to learn! If you would like to continue working with me after the three months, we can certainly organise that.
How does the community work?
The community will consist of a Slack group where you can meet other women like you and make new friends. You’ll be able to share ideas, support each other and practise your English. You’ll also have the chance to join informal group chats on Zoom each month.
What if I decide this programme isn’t right for me?
If you change your mind part way through the programme, or if life gets in the way and you can’t complete it for any reason, I can give you a partial refund according to how long we’ve worked together.
